8thTRIBE Premium Rum Liqueur DARK SPICE - EXOTICALLY SPICY, 26% alc/vol, 750mL

DARK SPICE has finally grown up. Instantly familiar yet distinctly different, this exotically spicy liqueur is warm, smooth, and seductive; a liqueur that will make you hope for bad weather and cold evenings every day.

Our distilling team are proud parents of this, the third generation of our spiced liqueur. Equal parts nature and nurture; evolving from a cellar door only Nocino, it is now an adventurous blend of cultures and flavours from exotic climes.

The black sheep of the 8thTRIBE family had a diverse upbringing. A colourful story that begins with a base made from green walnuts which after being allowed to mature for at least three years, provides DARK SPICE with its dark golden brown colour as well as a maple/date/nutty flavour. All natural ingredients like lemons and oranges, spices like cloves and horopito add to the adventurous spirit of DARK SPICE. Finally we blend in our own smooth, batch distilled White Rum and 100% pure spring water.

These are some of our favourite ways to enjoy 8thTRIBE Dark Spice:

ON THE ROCKS - over ice, any time, any place

OLD SPICE

  • 15mL Whiskey
  • 45mL 8thTRIBE Dark Spice
  • 5mL Maraschino Cherry Juice

Place all ingredients in a Boston Shaker. Shake well until ice cold. Double strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with maraschino cherry.

Back story:

Nocino (no-CHEE-no), an Italian recipe made from green walnuts that monks identified centuries ago as tasting good and having unique medicinal properties - it settles a belly ache almost like magic. In New Zealand, we hand pick green walnuts in December. Chopped up, they are infused with a three times distilled base, after adding wonderful spices like cloves and horopito it is allowed to infuse for at least three years. This alchemy creates an incredible aromatic concoction that with time becomes darker, in the end becoming almost completely black. 

Our White Rum is still an in house spirit we make using some of Chelsea Sugar's finest. The result is a smooth clear spirit with clearly defined flavours of almond, caramel and vanilla.

Using only whole fruit grown in New Zealand, the distillers’ finely honed skills, 8th Tribe Liqueurs take many months to craft. For maximum enjoyment and to safeguard the natural flavours and aromas we capture for you, store this bottle in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Enjoy within 12 months of opening.
